See AllBourbon Palace of Portici and Botanical Garden Between the slopes of Vesuvius and the port of Granatello, the royal couple Charles of Bourbon and Maria Amalia of Saxony, decided to build, in 1738, their summer villa. Engineers, architects and decorators worked on the construction of the Palace: Medrano, Canevari, Vanvitelli, Fuga, Canart, Bonito, Re and Geri.The site of Porticisi soon revealed buried memories: at each excavation some wonder of the past re-emerged into the light.
